Improving our own site performance

The old story goes that the cobbler’s children don’t have good shoes because the cobbler prioritizes customers over his own family. Web designers and developers often fall into the same situation. The slewis.org website has been too slow for too long. We were just too busy working on client sites to pay attention to our own.

I finally found some time today and moved our site from its old hosting to the hosting we’re using for most clients. What a difference! I’ve been planning to shutdown to old reseller hosting plan and move everything to virtual private and dedicated servers but hadn’t quite finished. Our site was the last one to move. Now that it is done, I can shutdown the old account and our customers and prospective customers can enjoy a faster experience visiting our site.
